Bridging the Gap Islington offers a free mentoring service to people who have been in trouble with the law, are at risk of offending, are homeless or recovering from addiction.
Our friendly trained mentors are here to provide you with support and guidance, to help you get to where you want to be.
Bridging the Gaps aims to break the cycle of re-offending by ensuring provision of trained volunteer mentors at critical points in offenders’ lives.
Friendly support from someone who is concerned about them individually can help offenders to rebuild their lives and move away from offending. This person could be a trained volunteer, a caring professional or a peer mentor who has been through similar experiences. We want to expand the provision of mentoring in Islington so that a substantial proportion of the 1800 Islington residents who come before the courts each year have the option of support from a mentor. This will need much more mentoring and also better liaison between mentoring services and statutory services, like probation.
